WAYNE – One man died and another was in critical condition Friday after their boat overturned on Androscoggin Lake around noon.

Peter Sturtevant, 51, of Fayette was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was pronounced dead, according to several sources.

Paul Camire, 51, of Auburn was flown to CMMC, where he was in critical condition late Friday night, according to a nursing supervisor.

The two men and a dog were plucked from the water about noon, Debbie Turcotte, a public information officer with the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife in Augusta said.

The men had launched their boat from Androscoggin Lake Yacht Club and were wearing life jackets when their boat capsized, Turcotte said.

It was not clear what caused the boat to overturn. The case remained under investigation Friday night.
