LEWISTON – Army Private First Class Marcel Rapp returned home to Lewiston in time for Thanksgiving after successfully completing the 17-week U.S. Army Infantry School in Fort Benning, Ga.

Rapp received the Infantry Cord on Nov. 15. The cord was attached to his uniform by his mother, Carol Brooke, who attended the “Turning Blue Ceremony,” as well as the Delta Co., 1st Battalion, 50th Infantry graduation the following day.

Rapp has been a member of the Maine National Guard since February and is now assigned to the 3d Battalion, 172d Infantry Regiment (Mountain), out of Brewer.

He is preparing to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Thomas College, Waterville, next semester. Rapp is a 2006 graduate of Lewiston High School.
