FAIRFIELD (AP) – Authorities investigating a fire at a Fairfield home where a body was found have released a tentative identification.

Pending further examination, officials say the body is believed to be that of a 55-year-old Fairfield man named Steven Edwards.

The fire destroyed Edwards’ home Friday afternoon.

A positive identification is expected to be made by the state medical examiner’s office this week.

Fire investigators say they are still working on determining the cause of the fire and where it started in the house.
