FARMINGTON – Leslie A. Hawkins, administrator for Pine Tree Medical Associates, has become a Fellow in the American College of Medical Practice Executives. Fellowship in the ACMPE is the highest distinction in the medical practice management profession. It signifies superior standards of performance and professional competency, as well as ongoing personal and professional development in the field.

To achieve fellowship, Hawkins first earned the certified medical practice executive designation by passing rigorous essay and objective examinations that assess knowledge of the broad scope of medical practice management. That includes financial management, human resources management, planning and marketing, information management, risk management, governance and organizational dynamics, business and clinical operations, and professional responsibility. In addition, Hawkins completed the presentation requirement and maintained continuing education credit hours to achieve CMPE status. Hawkins also submitted a professional paper, “Quality of Care Measures and Public Accountability in Medical Practices,” documenting the objectives and results of an investigation into a health care management topic.

Hawkins has led Pine Tree Medical Associates, a Franklin Community Health Network affiliate consisting of six primary care physician practices, three surgical practices, and a seasonal clinic at Sugarloaf, since 1999.

She received her master’s degree in health care administration from George Washington University. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives, and is a former member of its nominating committee representing New England, New York, and eastern Canada. Hawkins is also a member of the Maine Physician Practice Management Forum.
