AUBURN – The Parish of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 78 Pleasant St., is inviting the community to its second annual Festival of Lessons and Carols at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16.

Advent Lessons and Carols is a service of readings from the Old and New Testaments with hymns or special music between the readings. Members and friends of the parish will serve as lectors, choir, acolytes and ushers. The organist is Jonathan Whitmore.

In addition to the traditional service of lessons and carols, there will be the blessing of the newly restored organ. The restoration of the 6-rank 1921 Hook and Hastings organ chest was completed in July 2007. The rebuilding of the organ chest was done by Bob Faucher of Faucher Organ Co., Biddeford.

Offerings made at the festival will support the funding of the organ restoration project. A light reception of sandwiches and desserts will follow the service in the Parish Fellowship Hall or Washburn Room. For more information, call St. Michael’s Parish at 782-1346.
