Dear Sun Spots: I am hoping that Sun Spots can assist me concerning an unresolved issue with a local car dealership. I have exhausted all means of settling my issue with their customer service department.

I brought my Jetta to their service department due to a recall. I requested additional services, including an inspection sticker, oil change and tire rotation. Upon reviewing my invoice, I noticed the statement ‘right side glove box hinge is broken.’ My glove box was intact prior to the mechanic opening it to retrieve my registration. When I addressed this with the company, they completely disregarded my claims that they were responsible for the damages caused to my car and told me they couldn’t help me because it’s a common problem and neither the dealership nor Volkswagen will authorize repair.

My additional concern is that at no time was I notified that the hinge was broken nor given an estimate for the repair.

Please advise whom I should contact with my concerns.

Sun Spots is wonderful and has assisted so many. I appreciate your help. – R.C., No Town.

Answer:
Sun Spots contacted the dealership and spoke with the service manager who did not recall your visit or the work performed on your car. He recommended you contact Volkswagen of America at 800-822-8987 to discuss your problem. He also says the dealership would be happy to provide an estimate for repair so you might consider contacting them.

Dear Sun Spots: I have a family in Turner that was adopted by a local business for Christmas. The staff purchased age and gender appropriate gifts for the entire family. My dilemma is that from the time the names were gathered to being delivered, the family has moved from Turner. I had information they relocated to Vassalboro and I’ve checked there, to no avail.

The staff in Vassalboro was wonderful with their resources, however I still haven’t found the family. I do so wish to be able to provide them with the joy and gesture from the Turner Veterinary Hospital. Can you help me find them?

To Autumn, Mike Fox and their family: Please contact the Turner Town Office at 225-3414 and speak to Sandi.

Thank you for any help you can be in this matter. The clock is ticking and I do so wish to deliver this! – Sandi, Turner.

Dear Sun Spots: Does anyone nearby know how to repair an Xbox 360? My son has one that does not read all of his disk. We have called and written Microsoft but have gotten nowhere. We cannot afford to purchase another one. Can anyone help? Thank you. – Cecile Langlois, Lewiston.

Answer: Sun Spots wishes you the best of luck in your search.

Dear Sun Spots: You’ve helped so many. We hope you can please help us.

We’re looking for yarn, used or new and also needles, if any. These would help the needy and single parents. We also donate scarves and mittens with the yarn that is donated. Thank you. – S.L. No town.

Dear Sun Spots: The Employee Special Events Committee held a craft fair at Central Maine Medical Center on Nov. 30. It included a raffle. If you are the winner of the Maineiacs raffle that day, would you please contact the Volunteer Services Office at the hospital at 795-2470. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.
