LEWISTON – Maria Ikossi, MD, a surgeon, has joined the St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center family of services. After many years practicing at High Street in Lewiston, Ikossinow has her office located at 99 Campus Ave. in Lewiston, which is connected to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She will be sharing an office suite with Justin Clark, DO.
Ikossi specializes in chest, lung, and thoracic oncologic surgery. She is a member of the Society of Surgical Oncology and the New England Cancer Society. She is a cofounder of the Chest Oncology Program at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center.
In 1970, she graduated with a medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Mo. She completed her general surgery residency at Boston University. She also undertook a general surgical oncology fellowship at Rosewell Park Memorial Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., and a thoracic surgical oncology fellowship at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. In 1984, Ikossi earned her Ph.D. in experimental pathology, surgical oncology and cancer research from Roswell Park Cancer Institute. She is board-certified in general surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
She has a strong interest in the surgical multidisciplinary treatment of lung, esophageal, upper gastrointestinal and ovarian cancers.
