Fernand E. St. Hilaire, left, of Lewiston was presented his war ribbons and medals recently. St. Hilaire is a World War II veteran who enlisted in the Navy, serving for three years. He crossed the Atlantic Ocean 22 times as an armed guard, escorting merchant ships supplying the fighting allies in Europe. Congressman Mike Michaud presented St. Hilaire with three medals: the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal as well as the World War II Victory Medal in recognition of his service to the country.
