LEWISTON – Police released the names Tuesday of people involved in a three-vehicle fatal crash on Route 196 in Topsham.

Jennifer Hickey, 38, of Topsham was pronounced dead at Central Maine Medical Center. Her 10-year-old son, a passenger in the back seat of her car, had to be cut from the car she was driving Monday. He was taken to CMMC with non-life-threatening injuries, a spokesman for Topsham police said Tuesday in a news release.

A pickup truck driven by Daniel Boland, 74, of Harpswell was driving up a hill when it veered into oncoming traffic and struck Hickey’s 1997 Saturn head-on, police said.

Her car spun and then was struck by a 2004 Cadillac SUV driven by Cuong Nguyen, 33, of Lisbon Falls.

Hickey’s car flipped onto its passenger side and came to rest along the side of the road, police said.

Police closed the road for approximately 4 hours. An officer with Brunswick police is reconstructing the crash, which may take several weeks to complete, Topsham police said.

Snowy road conditions are considered a contributing factor in the crash.
