AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer a series of courses for propane and natural gas technicians beginning Tuesday, Feb. 12. All courses will meet from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and 8 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

“The Certified Employee Training Program,” or CETP, is a formal structure for training, testing and documentation to assure that workers in the propane industry have the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their work safely and effectively. The first class, “Basic Principles and Practices” (CTP 001-21) will begin on Feb. 12 and end on Feb. 21. It is a prerequisite to the other courses in the series and costs $380.

The second in the series, “Appliance Installation” (CTP 002-21), will run Feb. 26 through March 8. “Appliance Service” (CTP 005-21) will start March 11 and run through March 22. The two courses are $425 each.

The final course in the series, “Distribution Systems” (CTP 004-21) will run March 25 through April 12 and cost $625.

All prices include the cost of the textbooks and the state licensing exam, which will be administered during the last class. The courses will be taught by Anthony Leclair, who is licensed by the Maine Propane and Natural Gas Board.
