LEWISTON – The annual Thomas E. Lahey Bowlfest is scheduled for today at Spare Time Recreation, to benefit the Thomas E. Lahey Foundation. This year’s event has 170 bowlers signed up to compete in 34 five-person teams.
The format consists of three strings, with the top eight teams advancing to a single-string rolloff. Team winners will be determined in both handicap and scratch divisions. Individual awards will be presented in various categories.
Lahey passed away October 3, 1987. His foundation provides financial assistance to graduates of Lewiston, Edward Little and St. Dominic high schools. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded scholarship funds totaling more than $140,000 to local students.
Non-bowling friends are welcome to visit and socialize during this annual mid-winter reunion of the Lahey Legion. Registration is at 11:30 a.m., with the tourney to start at noon sharp.
