BUCKFIELD – Singer Peter Mayer, who writes songs about the human journey as well as the beauty and mystery of the world, will perform Saturday, Feb. 2, at Oddfellow Theater.

Whimsical, humorous and profound, his music takes listeners up mountains, across oceans, into space and back home again. A native of Minnesota with a background in theology, Mayer is not big on love songs. He prefers exploring science, nature and things spiritual.

He started touring full time in 1995 and has gradually amassed a dedicated, word-of-mouth following, selling out shows from Minnesota to Texas, New England to Colorado. He has seven CDs to his credit and has sold more than 50,000 of them independently. His has won numerous nominations for Minnesota Music Awards and has been a finalist in songwriting competitions, including Telluride and the Rocky Mountain Folksfest, where he has been invited back to perform and teach songwriting at the highly regarded Rocky Mountain Songschool.

A reviewer for Acoustic Guitar Magazine described Mayer’s talent as “fluid, clean, and tremendously intriguing guitar playing, topped with warm, rich vocals. This is music for the soul.”

This will be Mayer’s third performance at Oddfellow. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $6 for children 12 and younger. For tickets, call the box office at 336-3306. For more information, check out www.Oddfellow.com.
