LEWISTON – A surprise 60th wedding anniversary party was held Nov. 11, Veterans Day, for Louis and Lorraine Vincent of Lewiston. The event was planned by Gregg and Doris Vincent, son and daughter-in-law of the honored couple, and was held at the Chickadee Restaurant in Lewiston.
The couple was married at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul Nov. 11, 1947. Mrs. Vincent is the former Lorraine Poisson of Livermore Falls.
All of their three children, Norman of Old Town, Gregg of Lewiston and Jane of Denver, Colo., attended this special event. Three of their four grandchildren attended: Sara Cheetham and husband, Sean, Justin Vincent and wife, Courtney, and Derek Schenk. Adam Vincent and his wife, Emily, could not attend, but were there in spirit. The couple has three great-grandsons who also attended the event. Their names are Drew and Benjamin Vincent, and Rylen Schenk. Other guests included extended family members and friends.
Mr. Vincent is a graduate of Edward Little High School in the class of 1943. He is also a veteran of World War II, serving nearly four years in the Pacific with his beloved United States Marine Corps. After the war, he joined the Lewiston Fire Department, where he served for 28 years. He also owned and operated Vincent’s TV and Radio for 20 years.
Mrs. Vincent worked at the Ramada Inn for more than 20 years in the housekeeping department. Before that she worked at the Bates Mill during the war.
