AUBURN – A Lewiston man will be arraigned today at Androscoggin County Superior Court on several sex charges involving a child under 12.

Michael M. Pomerleau, 45, of 41 River St., is charged with gross sexual assault, unlawful sexual touching, three counts of unlawful sexual contact, sexual misconduct and visual sexual aggression against a child under the age of 12.

Police charge that the incidents happened in Lewiston over a span of more than a year. The first incident occurred May 2005; the last was in October 2006. He was indicted by the Androscoggin County grand jury this month.

Pomerleau is being held at the Androscoggin County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.

If released on bail he is to have no contact with the victim and will have to register as a sex offender, according to a dispatcher at the Auburn jail.

Police would not release any other information regarding the case.
