AUGUSTA – The Concerts at Jewett series will feature the DaPonte String Quartet at 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, at Jewett Hall Auditorium.

The program will include Beethoven’s String Quartet, Opus 18, No. 4; Schubert’s String Quartet in G Major, Opus 161; and Webern’s Funf Satze (Five Pieces).

DaPonte will return to Jewett Hall for the fifth consecutive year. From their Maine base, these Juilliard and Peabody Conservatory-trained players have built a national and international reputation. They are the contemporary version of a classical string quartet, and their personable and accessible style makes their music relevant and fresh.

Tickets are $10, $5 for students; children 12 and younger admitted free. Tickets are available at Pat’s Pizza in Augusta, Apple Valley Books in Winthrop, Al Corey Music Center in Waterville, and at the door. Call 621-3551, or e-mail umasc@maine.edu for more information or for mail-order tickets.
