HALLOWELL – The Lewiston Demons hockey team lost a tight game this weekend to the only team ahead of them in the standings, falling 2-1 to unbeaten Messalonskee at Kennebec Ice Arena.

The Demons remain in second place in the Northern Middle School Hockey League at 7-2-1, with only three games remaining before the playoffs.

David Cusson collected the lone goal for the Demons, putting Lewiston into the early lead by chipping in the rebound after a tough shot by Kile Conn. Messalonskee goaltender Nate DelGuidice kept Lewiston at bay all night.

Travis St. Pierre generated both Messalonskee goals in the second period.

Shots were relatively even until late in the game, when Lewiston pulled its goaltender and applied serious pressure, falling just shy of the tying goal.

The Demons face off against Win-Dale Sunday at Kennebec Ice Arena.
