DIXFIELD – A Maine Department of Transportation truck was clipped by a subcompact car during the storm of Feb. 13, causing damage to the Hyundai, but no injuries.

State Trooper Kyle Tilsley said Crystal Tracy, 18, of Livermore, was driving east along Route 2 near the intersection with Carter Road in her 1998 Hyundai about 2:15 p.m. when she attempted to drive around the plow truck, which also was heading east.

Tilsley said the truck was plowing on the road’s shoulder when Tracy struck the left rear tires of the truck. Her vehicle sustained about $1,000 in damage.

“It didn’t even bend the mud flaps,” he said of the truck, driven by Robert Russell, 51, of Mexico.

He said it’s a rare occasion when a plow truck is hit by a vehicle

“About once a winter,” he said.

Slippery road conditions led to the accident, he said.
