Dear Sun Spots: The National Multiple Sclerosis Walk in Androscoggin County will be held April 12 at Lewiston High School. I am the captain of the team Just Keep Movin,’ and I would like to ask your readers to help sponsor our team.

The goal of the MS Walk is to raise money to help end Multiple Sclerosis. More than 400,000 people in the United States have this debilitating disease, and more than 200 people are diagnosed weekly. Unfortunately, Maine has a high per capita level of MS, so many people rely on the education, support and research of the Maine Chapter of the National MS Society.

If you would like to make a donation by mail, just add a quick note with your check or donation that says it is for the team Just Keep Movin.’ Send it to the ATTN: Gabrielle Wallace, April 12 walk. You may mail your donation directly to the National MS Society Maine Chapter, 170 U.S. Rte. 1, Suite 200, Falmouth, ME 04105.

You may also make donations over the phone at 800-FIGHTMS. Tell them it is for the team Just Keep Movin’, ATTN: Gabrielle Wallace, Androscoggin County Walk. To make an online donation, go to www.msmaine.org site. Select donate at the very top of the home page. On the next page scroll down and select participate in an event, select the green and orange walk MS box, scroll and select donate (again), select the donate/pledge option for the Androscoggin County Lewiston Walk, under find a participant type Gabrielle Wallace, then select my name. At that point you can donate directly at the top of the thermometer.

You may also join my team if you would like to participate or volunteer. There are lots of different people on the team ranging from kids to seniors. You DO NOT have to complete 5 miles to be a team member! We have members who for medical reasons are not able to walk, but are auxiliary members of our team that help with fundraising. Many businesses have matching funds available for donations made by employees. All donations are tax deductible. Also, if your organization or business would be willing to sell “MS Sneaker” cutouts for $1 each, I would be happy to make arrangements to bring them to you. You may reach me at [email protected]. I have had MS for more than 5 years, and I appreciate your taking the time to help. It really matters! Thanks again. – Gabrielle Wallace, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: I am currently directing a production of Little Shop of Horrors for the Monmouth Community Players. I am in need of a cash register from the 1950s-1960s to use as part of the set. I am hoping that one of your readers may have a cash register that they would either be willing to loan, donate or sell to us for a reasonable sum. Little Shop of Horrors opens on March 7 and runs through March 16. Anyone who can help may contact me via e-mail. Thanks. I may be reached a [email protected] – Mike French, No Town.
