LEWISTON – Dale V. Cook of Buckfield, Vietnam veteran and lifelong naturalist, passed away early Monday, March 3, at Montello Manor nursing home.

He was born Jan. 28, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio. He will be remembered for his love of nature, notably for his efforts toward saving “Gully Brook,” a beautiful 200-acre stretch of wetland and mixed forest overlooking the Chagrin River in Willoughby, Ohio, where he grew up and lived well into adulthood.

He is survived by his father, Larry J. Cook of Euclid, Ohio; his two sons, Dane Cook (Karen) of McFarland, Wis., and Derek Cook (Laura) of Mentor, Ohio; sister, Laurie McConnell (James) of Auburn; brothers, Brian Cook (Ruth) of Worcester, Mass., and Craig Cook of Gahanna, Ohio; granddaughters, Abigail and Megan Cook of McFarland, Wis.; his friend and ex-wife, Donna (Kifer) Levy of Eastlake, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy C. Cook.
