LIVERMORE FALLS – The words “Come on Down” will sound in April as the middle school puts on its second annual Price is Right event to benefit student activities. Forty-three prices have been collected from around New England so far.

Tickets will be on sale Monday and until Friday, March 28.

“We are looking to sell 750 tickets maximum and tickets will not be sold at the door,” Middle School Principal Ted Finn said.

The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 5, in the school gymnasium.

Tickets may be purchased for $7 each at the main office of the school, ate Livermore Elementary School, Livermore Falls High School, or at the Transportation Office at the Central Office on Cedar Street.

Prizes so far total more than $3,000 in value, and the school is accepting donations until Friday, March 21, Finn said.

“We cleared $9,500 last year, Finn said, when more than 700 people attended. “It was very much (a success) not only in terms of the money raised, but how this one activity brought so many people together not only from SAD 36 but throughout this entire region.”

Finn has been working with an executive committee on the organization of the event, consisting of Co-chairwomen Donna Heutz and Lana Esty, secretary Laurie Jones and treasurer Rod Newman and student representatives Kenda Newman, grade six, Megan Baril, grade seven, and Kathryn Ventrella, grade eight.

Jeff Parsons from the Q97.9 Morning Radio Show will again host the event, assisted by sixth-grader Ian Jewett and eighth-grader Mike Wilson.

“The money raised is divided between the three grade levels, the Student Council, and the Activity Account,” Finn said. “This money is used to support field trips, field days, students of the month recognitions, guest speakers; (Maine Educational Assessment) snacks and awards…We used some of the money raised last year to purchase a sound system for our cafeteria,” Finn said.
