Dear Sun Spots: It has been months since the fire at the Village Inn Restaurant.

I know they have been working on rebuilding, but can you please find out when the Village Inn Restaurant in Auburn will be reopening? Everyone I’ve spoken to is anxiously waiting. Thank you. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Sun Spots spoke with Belinda Vallee, who says although she can’t give an exact date, they will definitely be back! Although they were hoping to reopen this spring, they are waiting for everything to fall into place and as soon as it does, they’ll be back in business.

The fire on April 25, 2007 gutted the High Street restaurant, causing an estimated $800,000 in damage. Famed for its seafood and chowder, the restaurant began as a pizza shop in 1963. It later became a drive-in restaurant and was sold in 1974. In 1979, the family reopened the restaurant under its current name.

The Village Inn has been an Auburn staple for 43 years.

Don’t forget to hang on to your gift certificates and be prepared to use them at the newly renovated restaurant when it reopens.

The Vallee family expects to continue its old menu once the restaurant is up and running again.

Dear Sun Spots: I was watching Rachael Ray and she advertised a book called Bad Belly.

I’ve looked in bookstores and asked about it but no one seems to know about the book.

The show aired during February. If anyone knows where to find that book please call me at 353-8150. Thanks. – Lorraine, No Town.

Answer: Sun Spots was unable to locate the book you are referring to.

However, we spoke with producers at the Rachael Ray show and they believe the book you are looking for was featured on the February 19 episode and is called the Flat Belly Diet! from the Editors of Prevention Magazine.

According to the book’s Web site, the 4-week Flat Belly Diet is designed to help you discover a whole new healthier way of eating without sacrificing your love for good food. The Flat Belly Diet was created and then tested by the experts at Prevention.

The book contains recipes for hearty meals, more than 80 easy to cook recipes that use many ready to go ingredients, time-saving shopping lists, a bonus 32-day food journal and a simple, three-part exercise plan (completely optional) for those who want even faster results.

The book is not yet stocked at bookstores in the area, but you can contact any of them and they will be happy to order it for you.

Mr. Paperback at 855 Lisbon St., 783-2273, Percy’s Burrow at the Lewiston Mall, 376-3225 and Waldenbooks in the Auburn Mall, 783-8946.

The producers at the Rachael Ray Show also provided this Web site for more information about the diet and other ways to order the book: www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/segments/view/flat-belly-diet/.
