LEWISTON – The band Bustopher Jones will perform for an evening of contra dancing Friday, April 11, at Callahan Hall at the Lewiston Public Library.

The event will run from 8 to 11 p.m. Admission is $2 for students, $5 for others.

Bustopher Jones is a folk quartet consisting of Greg Boardman on fiddle; John Cote on guitar and foot percussion; Anthony Shostak on banjo, Irish bagpipes and didgeridoo; and Alfred Lund on hand drums.

Joining them in a repertoire of Irish, Scottish and French Canadian jigs and reels will be special guest fiddler Hannah Rodrigue, age 15, a former student of Boardman’s.

Chrissy Fowler of Belfast will serve as the caller, leading dancers through the moves.

The event is designed to be beginner-friendly, with no prior dance experience required since participants learn as they go along. It is not necessary to bring a partner to the dance because the custom is for everyone to mingle freely during the evening.
