CAPE ELIZABETH (AP) – Cumberland County District Attorney Stephanie Anderson plans to meet with lawyers for Cape Elizabeth students who vandalized the town high school before deciding whether to pursue charges against them.
Anderson met Friday with Cape Elizabeth police and school officials to discuss the incident that shut down the school on March 24 and caused damage estimated at around $10,000.
School officials said the vandals removed ceiling tiles from the library, spread peanut butter across doors and used desks to barricade classrooms. The 10 students told authorities they were playing a senior prank.
Police said the students, who received suspensions, could be charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft.
