NORWAY – Stephens Memorial Hospital’s monthly Parkinson’s Support Group for Oxford County will host Carl Barker, president of the Maine Chapter of the American Parkinson’s Disease Association, at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 24, in the board room at the hospital.

As well as being the chapter president, Barker was caregiver for his wife, who had Parkinson’s Disease, for 27 years. Barker took up playing the harmonica during that time and believes that caregivers, as well as individuals with Parkinson’s, should not become the disease. Barker has previously addressed the group regarding caregiving.

The support group is open to individuals or families who are interested or have concerns about the disease. They will provide the latest information from the Maine Chapter and will assist individuals and families in obtaining additional information.

The group meets on the last Thursday of the month. For further information or to RSVP, contact Marianne Gallo at 743-7086.
