Robert Cassano was the winner of the Easter candy guessing contest, sponsored by the Seneca Club, at Paris Public Library.
Seneca Club elects, discusses activities
PARIS – The Seneca Club of the Paris Public Library held an organizational meeting on April 3 at the library. A brief history of the club was given and copies are available at the library. Officers were elected as follows: Co-chairwomen, Karen Ellis and Florence Wendell; secretary, Joan Moorehead; and treasurers, Connie Allen and Carolyn Blais.
The group discussed various activities and fundraising ideas that the club might sponsor. It was voted to sponsor a butterfly program for children on July 18 at the library, and it was decided that a newsletter will be sent out quarterly to members.
It was also reported that the club had sponsored an Easter candy guessing contest. The winner was Robert Cassano of South Paris, who received a gift certificate plus the candy jar.
Mike Dignan, librarian, reported that books may be delivered by volunteers to those who are unable to visit the library. Praise was given to Sue Moccia, SAD 17 art teacher, for providing children’s artwork from Paris Elementary School to display at the library.
The club will sponsor a book sale this summer, and a new site is needed as it was always held in the bays at the old Paris Fire Station on Pine Street, and the site was demolished by heavy snow this winter.
