As everyone knows MEAs are very important. So they put a lot of pressure on the students taking them. That’s why after their MEAs are over Lewiston Middle School has their annual “March Madness,” or spirit week. Spirit takes place during the week after the whole school finishes the MEAs. It is like a celebration that the MEAs are over.

March Madness is a week full of different theme days. Then on Friday the school has a team day. Each of the 6 LMS teams also has its very own color. Students can wear this color all week. But on Friday, every person on the team dresses in their team’s color, that way people can identify each team. Here are the team colors: 71 was orange. Team 72 was blue. Team 73 got pink as their team color. Team 81 was yellow, 82 was green, and 83 was red.

On the first day of spirit week everyone wore mis- matched clothes. There were different shoes on each foot, and two different kinds of socks, shorts over pants, and so on.

Tuesday was the second day of March Madness and it was “Blast from the Past.” This is the day when students dress up like people from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s.

Wednesday of March Madness was sports day. People were dressed in their favorite team’s colors. Some kids came in wearing their cheering team’s colors. Others wore their favorite football and baseball teams’ colors.

Thursday was crazy hair day. Everyone had their hair in different positions. Some kids dyed their hair, some put a bottle in their hair to stick it up. One person even put lollipops in her hair.

The last day of March Madness was team day. This is the day where all the teams compete in various activities. Some of them were pie eating, different relay races, and a knock out basketball game. By the end of the day all the teams were on their feet, some were even dancing to the songs that the DJ was playing. The team that won was 82, then 81, then 73, then 83, then 71, then 72. So that concluded this year’s March Madness.
