FARMINGTON – It’s been a year of firsts for the Mt. Blue Curtain Raisers and that will continue Friday, May 16, when the improv comedy troupe gives its first performance in Alumni Theater on the University of Maine at Farmington.

At a Curtain Raisers show, the possibilities are endless. Building on suggestions from the audience, no one ever knows exactly what is going to happen – including the actors. Fans of the modern TV classic “Whose Line Is It, Anyway?” may recognize a game or two. And those who enjoy the irreverence of “Saturday Night Live” should also find a home in the crowd.

The May 16 show set to begin at 7:30 p.m. marks the beginning of an important weekend for the Curtain Raisers who will head to Boston Sunday, May 18, to perform at ImprovBoston, a professional improv comedy theater.

Each year for the past four years, the theater has hosted a Curtain Raisers performance as part of its featured Sunday night programming. The Curtain Raisers also participate in a private workshop in the morning when they hone their skills before the main event.

As always, all funds graciously accepted at Curtain Raisers shows go to support the ImprovBoston trip. A suggested donation of $3 will be gathered at the door and more donations are always welcome.
