LEWISTON – L/A Arts Gallery 5 will host a discussion about simple and effective Web sites for artists from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 16. Painter, sculptor, photographer, musician, actor – whatever your medium, a Web site may be the most efficient and least costly method of exhibiting art work.

The Gallery Talk will help artists find a resource to create a Web site. The options are many, ranging from a unique web designer, to free templates, to sites that sponsor artists.

Tammie Grieshaber, Gallery 5 curator, will lead the discussion. She will show examples of a variety of sites and have information about the steps necessary for securing a place on the Internet and the costs involved.

“We all know that the Web is our fastest resource for information,” said Grieshaber. “Many artists don’t realize what a good tool the Internet can be for them. I am always amazed by the number of people who check Gallery 5 exhibits on the Web (www.laarts.org) before coming into the gallery. Even folks from out of state are taking virtual tours. It’s great exposure for our artists.”

Space is limited, so call L/A Arts at 782-7228 to secure a seat.

Gallery 5 is at 49 Lisbon St. The current exhibit, “The Sands of Time,” will be up until May 25. Gallery hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday or by appointment, 576-4805.
