MONMOUTH – Erik Smith smacked a line drive hit to score Ronnie Hobson with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Monmouth to a 7-6 baseball triumph over Livermore Falls.

Hobson reached base on an infield hit, before Eric Murphey sacrificed to move Hobson to second. Hobson then stole third before Smiths’ RBI single.

Smith finished with three hits for the Mustangs (4-3). Murphey earned the win, striking out six batters in the process.

Mtn. Valley 14, Boothbay 4

RUMFORD – T.J. Burgess blasted an inside-the-park home run in the third inning as Mountain Valley defeated Boothbay 14-4 in five innings on Monday.

Ryan Laubauskas and Keith Brennick each hit two-run doubles, while Alex Gagnon and Garrett McPherson contributed RBI doubles for the Falcons (7-0). Matt Laubauskas earned the win, striking out five in his two innings pitched.

The Seahawks (0-6) were paced by Jim Hersom and Dave Bean, who each hit an RBI double.

Poland 7, Gray-New Gloucester 2

GRAY – Jackie MacVane smacked an RBI double in the second and seventh innings as Poland posted a 7-2 triumph over Gray-New Gloucester.

Nick Douglass also hit an RBI double in the seventh to help secure the Knights (5-4) win. Casey Ray earned the win, while Joe Murphey recorded the save. Ray had two hits and three RBIs to help his own cause.

Mt. Ararat 10, Edward Little 0

TOPSHAM – Winning pitcher Anthony Ferrell tossed a two-hitter, struck out six batters, and smacked a two-run double in the sixth inning to lead Mt. Ararat to a 10-0 blanking over Edward Little.

Bryan Sherwood also hit a two-run double, while Kyle Cyr had a pair of hits for the Mt. Ararat win.

Edward Little’s two hits were by Josh Mains and Cody Goodard.

Dirigo 9, Mt. Abram 2

SALEM – Dakota Holmquist and Eric Bolduc hit RBI singles to spark a five-run first inning as Dirigo cruised to a 9-2 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC baseball action.

Jon Smith and James Moulton collected two hits apiece, and Aaron Fenstermacher worked five scoreless innings to pick up the win for Dirigo (6-1). Mark Wahl had an RBI single for Mt. Abram (1-6).

St. Dom’s 11, Sacopee Valley 1

AUBURN – Junior center fielder Greg LaBonte cleared the bases with a triple in the six-run fourth inning as St. Dom’s blasted Sacopee Valley 11-1 in WMC baseball action Monday.

Casey Stone had one of the Hawks’ (1-5) three hits, with an RBI single in the top of the fourth to shorten the then Saints’ lead to 4-1.

The Saints (6-1) pushed a run across the plate in the bottom of the fifth inning to invoke the 10-run mercy rule. LaBonte provided five RBIs, while senior Joe Keaney earned the mound win.

Leavitt 9, Morse 2

BATH – Doug Nash smashed a home run in the sixth inning insuring the Leavitt 9-2 victory over Morse.

Guy Castonguay had three singles for the Hornets (2-7), while Nash, Dan Buzzell, and Matt Paladino each had a pair of hits.

Nate Elwell had both hits for Morse (1-8).

Lewiston 9, Brunswick 3

BRUNSWICK – Rob Leeman smacked a two-RBI single in the fourth to cap a five-run inning for Lewiston as the Blue Devils ran away from Brunswick 9-3 in a KVAC baseball tilt Monday. Leeman finished the day with two hits and four RBIs.

Jeff Keene earned the win for the Blue Devils (5-4). Eddie West and Conroy LeBlond belted doubles in the winning effort, while Mike Fontaine, Jon Paradis and Josh Leino also contributed a pair of hits.

Duncan Lowe led the Dragons (5-4) with a pair of singles. Adam Potman suffered the loss on the hill.

Cony 10, Oxford Hills 4

PARIS – Cony used seven hits against three pitchers to score seven runs in the decisive fifth inning en route to a 10-4 victory over Oxford Hills.

The Rams (6-3) were leading 3-1 when Jason Burns opened the fifth with a double. Charlie Patridge’s two-run double helped seal the game.

Roger Cromwell and Justin Frechette had two hits apiece for the Vikings (4-5), while Cody Hadley added a triple and Matt Verrier a double.

Georges Valley 16, Telstar 7

THOMASTON – Brandon Staples rapped three hits and collected four RBIs as Georges Valley erupted for 18 hits in a 16-7 rout over Telstar in MVC baseball action Monday.

Liam Masterson pitched into the fifth inning and allowed two earned runs for his first varsity win. Brandon Caron added three hits and Justin Henry belted a solo home run for the Buccaneers (4-4).

The Rebels (1-5) rallied for five runs in the third inning to make it 8-5, but couldn’t keep pace with Georges Valley over the next four innings. Mike Fitzmorris had the only extra base hit for Telstar with a double.

Lacrosse

Lewiston 17, Cony 2

AUGUSTA – Ben Landry led all players with four goals and an assist as undefeated Lewiston dominated over Cony 17-2 in a boys’ lacrosse match-up Monday.

Alex Stone tallied three goals, while Mason Giroux, Jon Roy, Zack Blauvelt and Wesley Meyers each scored a pair of goals apiece for the Blue Devils (6-0). Troy Callier and Sam Cloutier rounded out the scoring. Kyle Dussault and Alex Pare split time as the keeper, combining for seven saves.

Joe Gagnon netted both goals for the Rams (3-3).

Hebron 8, Hyde 5

HEBRON – C.J. Estes led the attack with two goals and four assists as Hebron posted an 8-5 victory over Hyde in boys’ lacrosse action Monday.

Mike Box and Josh Dubinsky collected a pair of goals each for Hyde (5-6).

Bobby Thoits added two goals and an assist for the Lumberjacks (12-3), while Costa Tsitouras scored a goal and earned two assists in the winning effort.
