Olympian Dick Fosbury hosting Bowdoin camp

BRUNSWICK – Olympic Gold Medal winner Dick Fosbury will be directing a track camp at Bowdoin College again this summer. Fosbury won the 1968 Olympic high jump with a revolutionary technique which is now known as the Fosbury Flop.

“We’re lucky to have Dick Fosbury directing a camp in Brunswick,” said Bowdoin College track coach Peter Slovenski. “This is a wonderful opportunity for high school track athletes. Dick is an outstanding coach, educator, and role model for athletes in all track & field events.”

The camp staff includes coaches who have had success at the high school, college, and Olympic level, including 5-time Olympic team member Francie Larrieu Smith. Larrieu Smith set 35 American records at distances from 1,000 meters through 10,000 meters during her remarkable running career.

Dick Fosbury Track Camp will run from June 22-26. More information can be found by visiting the camp web site at www.fosburycamp.com.
