K.J. Forand is leaving behind her a robust legacy when she leaves Hebron Academy this summer. As a captain on the lacrosse team this spring, she leads in goals scored, and has been named to the New England Prep School Womens Lacrosse All Star Team,
She helped lead the Lumberjacks to a MAISAD conference title this season.
She has scored over 100 points in two years and leads this year in points and assists. She was also a starter in ice hockey and field hockey, and captain of these two teams as well.
Next year, Forand will attend Nichols College and play all three sports.
Falcons keep soaring
Just when it appeared that Winthrop was ready to take over the MVC tennis reins again, in come the Mountain Valley Falcons. Behind solid singles play from Curtis Bolduc, Travis Ruff and Nate Hewett, the Falcons are out to a 9-0 start and control of the MVC going into the final stretch.
Also, the Falcons are clinging to the No. 2 seed in Western Class B alongside Falmouth.
Surviving the bug bites
The Lewiston boys’ lacrosse team began the season believing that the only way they’d lose is if they beat themselves. They didn’t count on the injury bug’s bite to be so harsh. Midfielder Nate Rivet suffered a minor leg fracture in a game earlier this season against Messalonskee, and that alone has slowed the Blue Devils down a bit. Lewiston might see him back for the playoffs, but even that is up in the air.
Sharing the wealth
Sometimes, a lacrosse program can ride one great player to several wins. Oxford Hills’ girls’ team prefers to do things as a team.
Five different players have led the team in scoring through seven games this season. Junior Lauren Brett had six in a game against Edward Little, Brooke Mason led the Vikings in their lone loss, to Lewiston, and Ebony Mills had five, with Heather Knights chipping in four against Morse. The Vikings currently sit second in Western Class A.
