LEWISTON – Norm Dubois has had success in many sports activities in his lifetime, including a hole-in-one in golf and long-standing house candlepin bowling record at the former L&A Lanes.

Dubois recently added recognition as the player of the year in the Maine Valley 8-Ball Association. Dubois, who began playing straight pool more than 50 years ago, joined the Maine Valley 8-Ball Association in 199.

He took a year off after the Hurricane Club he co-owned with his wife, Denise, was destroyed by fire. Dubois returned stronger than ever, though. Recruited by a former team captain, Rick St Laurent, Dubois played for Derby Athletic Club this season and enjoyed a career year in the Lewiston/Auburn Bud Light Division of the Maine Valley League.

Dubois led all players with a power average of 2.28, led the entire state in total points with 1,008 and games won with 80. Dubois also led his league with eight Sweeps and five win-zips along with tying for the top in runouts.
