This is in response to Ray Lavoie’s letter (May 16.)
America is not the most compassionate nation. It’s the twelfth best country to live in.
Iraq was attacked for false reasons and false motives.
The people of Iraq have not been liberated. Life is worse for them now than under Saddam. Imagine raising your children in a war zone created by America.
The Patriot Act has taken away the constitutional right to privacy, free speech and free press. Americans are monitored through e-mails, wire-tapping and books borrowed from the library. Anyone can be accused of being a terrorist, so we must be careful.
Americans are terrorized by leaders spreading fear (which is terror). Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, yet the citizens of Iraq suffer the most.
Actions against MoveOn.net’s ad “General Betray-us” took away their right to free press and free speech. Many believe Bush tells Gen. David Petraeus what to tell Congress about the war.
Our soldiers are slapped in the face when they return injured. They’re only valued when they can fight.
This administration acts like terrorists and dictators.
Hopefully, the next president can regain our nation’s standing in the world, fix the economy and reinstate constitutional rights.
I support my country and fellow citizens, but not the wrong actions and motives of this administration.
Torture shouldn’t be tolerated, ever. This war and administration have created more terrorists, not less.
Hurray for Judson Duncan for writing what most are afraid to say.
