FARMINGDALE – Garrison Beck plated the eventual game-winning run in the eighth inning as Monmouth tripped up Hall-Dale 4-3 in MVC baseball action Tuesday.
Parker Ferland led off the top of the eighth for the Mustangs (6-4) by getting hit with a pitch. He advanced to second on a walk and third on a sacrifice, before crossing the plate on Beck’s single.
Kyle Wright tripled for the Bulldogs (7-6) in the two-run fourth inning that tied the game at 3-3.
Rangeley, Buckfield split
BUCKFIELD – The Rangeley and Buckfield baseball squads split a mid-week doubleheader Tuesday, with the Lakers taking the opener 5-1 before losing the nightcap 7-6.
Luke Hammond scattered three hits and struck out 16 for Rangeley (7-4) in the opener. Hammond and David Raymond led the Lakers with two hits each, while Ben Bliss belted a double.
In the nightcap, Zack Cowett belted an RBI double in the fifth inning that allowed Buckfield to salvage the split. Cowett led the Bucks with three hits, while Raymond had for the Lakers. Bliss and Cody Brooks combined skills on the mound for Buckfield.
Oxford Hills 7, Mt. Ararat 2
SOUTH PARIS – Ryan Yates scattered three hits and drew ample run support as Oxford Hills rolled to a 7-2 victory over Mt. Ararat in a KVAC baseball tilt.
Yates also led the Vikings (8-6) at the plate with an RBI triple, while Mark Chandler and catcher Matt Verrier belted doubles. After three scoreless innings, Oxford Hills broke the deadlock with two runs in the fourth and added three more in the fifth to seal the win.
Brunswick 15, Leavitt 13
TURNER – Sam Feldman and John Simmons combined for five hits and four RBIs to lead Brunswick to a 15-13 victory over Leavitt in an KVAC slugfest.
Matt Liscovitz gave up 15 hits in seven innings of work to notch the win.
The Hornets (2-12) were paced by Doug Nash with four hits and four RBIs, while Matt Paladino tallied three hits. Youland and Evan Barker also contributed with two hits each.
St. Dom’s 12, Poland 1
POLAND – Pat Bryant smashed a grand slam in the five-run first inning as St. Dom’s cruised to a 12-1 triumph over Poland in WMC baseball action Tuesday.
The Saints (11-1) rattled off another six runs in the third inning behind a two-run home run from Richard Paradis.
Jackie MacVane scored the Knight’s (7-7) lone unearned run in the bottom of the first inning, following a single and stolen base.
Livermore Falls 25, Jay 0
JAY – Kevin Gats had five hits and eight RBIs to lead Livermore Falls to a 25-0 romp over longtime rival Jay in MVC baseball action Tuesday evening.
Gats also smashed a three-run home run in a huge 12-run third inning for the Andies (11-3).
Kyle Stebbins also contributed with two hits and three RBIs, while catcher Willy Brown belted three hits and scored five runs. Jake Marceau gave up just two hits while earning the shutout.
Lacrosse
Oak Hill 9, Lincoln 8, OT
WALES – Zach Provost notched the game-winner in overtime as Oak Hill narrowly escaped with the 9-8 victory over Lincoln Academy in KVAC boys’ lacrosse.
Nick Brown picked up the ball in the defensive zone for the Raiders (8-2) and raced down the field on a fast break, where he made a nifty dodge before passing to Provost, who slid the game-winning goal into the back of the net.
Oak Hill had a tough time stopping the Eagles’ (7-4) Kevin Conant, who was outstanding on offense.
St. Dom’s 14, Wells 8
WELLS – Trevor Haefele scored eight goals and dished off an assist to lead St. Dom’s to a 14-8 victory over Wells.
Andrew Gwarjanski and Cam McKee chipped in for the Saints (6-3) with two goals each, while Ben Adams and Matt Barlion also tallied. Ben Horton made 14 saves for St. Dom’s to notch the win.
Wells (2-7) was paced by Joe Besisto and Ascher Booth with three goals apiece, while Josh Tufts and Alec Routier also tallied. Woody Worthley turned aside nine shots in net for Wells.
