Legion Post 72

PARIS – American Legion Post 72, Church Street, Paris, will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, for a potluck supper, with a meeting at 7. The Executive Committee will meet at 6 p.m. the fourth Wednesday of the month, June 25.

After June, regular business meetings will resume in September at 6 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the post hall.

The post will sponsor the following high school juniors to Dirigo Boys State June 15 to 19 at Thomas College in Waterville: Brian Bouchard, Matthew Currie and Ryan Ricci. Maine Machine will sponsor Zachary Sutton.

Society to elect

WATERFORD – The annual meeting of the Waterford Historical Society will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 12, at the Old Town House on the shores of Keoka Lake. Election of trustees will be held.

Members will make program plans for the coming year, with the theme “Waterford Then and Now.” A photography exhibit with the same theme will be planned. One project members hope to get off the ground is a logging/industrial exhibit.

Ideas and volunteers are needed. All are invited to attend.

New moms’ class

NORWAY – The Family Birthplace at Stephens Memorial Hospital announces a free “Breastfeeding Your Newborn” class for new and experienced mothers from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 13, in the Harper Conference Center.

Gail Martel, RNC, ICCE, IBCLC, will lead the class, which will cover the facts of breastfeeding, and help to dispel the myths. The group will also learn skills for successful breastfeeding and the support services available to breastfeeding mothers.

Flea market

GREENWOOD – An indoor/outdoor flea market will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at the American Legion Hall, Gore Road.

Tables are $10 each. Vendors are welcome. Contact Jamie Hastings at 674-2540. Proceeds will benefit the Shrine Children’s Hospital in Boston, a special project of American Legion Auxiliary.

Heywood Club

NORWAY – The Heywood Club will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Trudy Morse’s camp for a potluck supper.

Society sale

RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will have a lawn, plant and food sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 7, on the grounds of the Lufkin School Museum, Route 2, Rumford Center.

Myrtle McKenna, Dennis and Drucilla Breton are in charge of the household item that will be sold. This year there will be some camping items, including a tent.

Mary Greaney will be in charge of the food table, which will include pies, cakes, muffins and breads. Bill Weston will bring perennials from his own gardens for the plant sale.
