The grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for “The Norm” at Blais Flowers and Garden Center, 539 Webster St., was held recently. “The Norm” is an outside display house used by the garden center to display the selection of greenhouse plants that fill four large greenhouses. As stated on a brass plaque commemorating the event, “This Building is Dedicated to the ‘The Norms’ who have made Blais Flowers and Garden Center so successful through years of service and devotion.” The “Norms” honored are Normand Blais, Michael Blais’ father, who started working for his father, Joseph, in 1953 to the time he passed away in 1995, and Normand Lachance, who started working in 1961 and continues to work for Blais’ on a part-time basis. Pictured, left to right are Pauline Blais, Michael Blais, Normand Lachance, Anne Lachance and Mayor Larry Gilbert.
