Dear Sun Spots: I have a Lisbon High School ring class of 1979 with initial DEG that I would love to give to the owner. Also, I am looking for someone who gives voice lessons. Thank you so much. May call 784-3497 or e-mail dotmem@gwi.net. – No Name, No Town.

Answer: Contact Valerie Chipman in Lisbon at 320-0165 for more information on voice lessons. Valerie has a degree in music and offers both voice and piano lessons.

Dear Sun Spots: I am looking for a “tater-twister.” This device cuts a potato into a curlicue fry. If you know where I can purchase one please call Eugene at 562-7870 or e-mail me at scrapiron@gwi.net. – Eugene, No Town.

Dear Sun Spots: Calling all knitters, crocheters and Sun Spots column readers! We need your help.

We are greatly in need of 4-ply yarn of all colors and in good condition to continue making hats, mittens, baby things, lap robes and other warm objects, which in turn are given to the needy of all ages in Androscoggin County. Perhaps you have some unused yarn that would love to find a home with our crafters and the needy. We would be very happy to pick it up.

For those who may not be aware, Catholic Charities Maine, located at 270 Minot Ave., Auburn, has a great program called SEARCH (Seek Elderly Alone, Renew Courage and Hope) where wonderful volunteers are assigned to elderly people who enjoy their reassurance calls or home visits. SEARCH also benefits from the work of about 30 volunteers who knit and crochet. The yarn is donated to SEARCH and given to the knitters as needed.

For more information, please call the office at (207) 784-0157 and ask for SEARCH. We are open every weekday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Join us in the joy of giving and making someone happy and warm. With our deepest gratitude. – Phoebe Lowell, SEARCH program director, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: On Dec. 12, 2007, I received a gift certificate for $100 issued by Crystal Lavoie, owner (Autumn Day Spa). When I went to redeem the certificate I found the business had been closed with no customer information presented. After searching on the Internet, I found this business and owner under a Lewiston address. I investigated the address and found it to be a personal residence. I would appreciate any help you may be able to give me in locating a phone number and business address. – Elisa, Auburn.

Dear Sun Spots: It has been six months since I received this gift certificate from Autumn Day Spa. I read a while back, in your column, the owner would honor any gift certificate bought prior to the closing. Have you heard from the owner yet? If not, how could I get in touch with her. I would appreciate your help. This certificate is worth $100. Thank you. – Nanci, No Town.

Answer: Unfortunately, we have not found a phone number or address for Autumn Day Spa. In the Feb. 13 Sun Spots it was mentioned that owner Crystal Lavoie called to update column readers. She had to vacate the premises because the building she leased from another party was foreclosed on. She is planning to reopen, and expects to update you all once things are up and running again. Unfortunately, she mentioned, it is going to take some time because she has to reapply for her license and go through the inspections again. She apologized for any inconvenience this has caused and said all gift certificates will be fully redeemable when they reopen.
