Buggy program
MEXICO – As part of the “Terrific Tuesdays” summer program for kids, the Mexico Public Library will host a special program at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29.
In keeping with the summer theme of “Catch the Reading Bug!,” bug enthusiast Jim Nutting will visit. He has been an exhibitor at BugMania at the Maine State Museum. He has been collecting insects since he was 5 years old. Although he will bring a variety of insects, his specialty is butterflies.

Lodge supper
RUMFORD – A bean-hole bean supper will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, at Blazing Star Lodge, Route 232, Rumford Corner. Menu will include beans and hot dogs, coleslaw, macaroni salad, bread, pie, punch and coffee.
Cost will be adults, $7; kids under 12, $3. Take-out will be available. The building is handicapped accessible.

Road race
ANDOVER – Andover Service Circle will hold the fourth annual Andover Olde Home Days Road Race at 7:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2.
Registration will take place at 7 a.m. at the Andover Elementary School for the 4.5-mile open road race, $12; one-mile open fun run, $5; and one-mile fun walk, $5.

Smith reunion
FRYEBURG – Descendants of the late Simon and Maryann Mckeen Smith (as well as other branches of Smiths) plan to meet at 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Beano Building, Fryeburg Fairgrounds.
A Chinese auction is planned, and items are needed. A potluck lunch will be held at noon and those attending are asked to bring a dish to share. Soda, coffee, plates and flatware will be furnished. There will be musical entertainment throughout the afternoon.

Bridge play
RUMFORD – Results of the Rumford Duplicate Bridge Club game on July 17 were: first, Paula Humbert and Clara Roy; second, Anna Cormier and Jessie Shea; three-way tie for third, Alan Bradford and Bob Soucy, Eric and Marilyn Sahlburg, and Bill and Jean Hersey.
