Nine-time Grammy Award winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Bonnie Raitt – as well known for her commitment to social activism as to her music – will perform Aug. 11 at Merrill Auditorium in in Portland. The 8 p.m. concert will benefit the U.S. Senate campaign of Congressman Tom Allen.

The legendary singer and musician has played an active role in the environmental and safe-energy movements, as well as in peace and social justice issues.

Tickets are available exclusively at www.tomallen.org. No tickets will be sold through the Merrill Auditorium box office or Porttix. Reserved orchestra, terrace and grand tier tickets are $85. Reserved balcony tickets are $60. There are no service charges.

Opening the concert will be The Refugees, three folk rock women with successful solo careers – Cindy Bullens, Deborah Holland and Wendy Waldman – who formed the group only a year ago.

Merrill Auditorium is in Portland City Hall at 20 Myrtle St.
