BATH – Edwin R. Hooper, 92, formerly of Woolwich, died Monday, Aug. 4, at the Hill House Nursing Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Auburn on Dec. 20, 1916, the son of Ralph C. and Anna F. Benedix Hooper. He attended local schools and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1937.

In 1941, he married Gwendolyn Wilson and together they moved to Woolwich, where they made their home.

Edwin worked at Bath Iron Works, where he was a shop steward in Department 34 of the Harding Plant Local No. 6, retiring in 1979 after 38 years of service. During that time he also served as financial secretary for Local #6.

In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trapping. He was a member of the Bath Area Senior Citizens.

He was predeceased by his wife on March 3, 2002.

He is survived by two nieces, Elaine and her husband, Stephen Staples, of Albion, and Patricia and her husband, John Charamond, of Highland Beach, Fla.
