Church concert
WILTON – The East Wilton Union Church will host New Beginnings in a concert on the lawn at 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17. The public is invited. Chairs will be provided.
In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held inside. Light refreshments and a time of fellowship will follow. The concert is free, but there will be an opportunity for a free-will offering.

Church supper
LIVERMORE – The Livermore United Methodist Church, Church Street, will hold a lasagna supper from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. The menu will include meat and vegetable lasagna, salad, dinner rolls, ice cream sundaes, lemonade and coffee. Cost is adults, $6; children under 12, $3 All are welcome.
Soccer, horseshoes
STRONG – A children’s soccer camp will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 18 to 22 at the Strong Legion Field.
Mt. Abram soccer coach Darren Allen will be the instructor for ages 5 to 12. Cost is $25 a child.

A horseshoe tournament to be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, will also benefit the park. Cost is $5 a person.

Elks poker run
FARMINGTON – The Farmington Elks Tim Maillet Scholarship Ride sixth annual Poker Run will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7, at the Farmington Elks Lodge.
Donations are $20. There will be T-shirts, prizes, meal and music. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. It is open to all vehicles. For more information, call Jon at 778-1959.
Food sale
PHILLIPS – A benefit food sale will be held at Phillips Old Home Days starting at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, in front of the Paul G. Whittmore Building.
Proceeds will go to the Sgt. Richard Parker memorial fund, “Stairway to Freedom.” The memorial will be built at the Lance Corporal Scott Paul Memorial Town Park.
Parker was killed last year in Iraq. He was the son of Dixie and Jerry Flagg of Avon and Scott and Flora Hood of Strong. Donations will also be accepted.
