WATERFORD – The Planning Board is scheduled to review an application for a proposed cell tower on Wednesday.

The application will be presented at the board’s regular meeting at 7 p.m. at the Waterford Town Office.

According to the town’s Web site, the tower was proposed at the Planning Board’s meeting on July 18. The 180-foot tower would be situated at the top of Rice Hill, which has an elevation of 1,318 feet.

The unlit tower would be accessed by a 1,600-foot right of way from Rice Road. The tower would be situated inside a 100-by-100-foot compound, which would contain buildings from individual companies to hold backup battery power. The Waterford Fire Department would be able to use space on the tower free of charge, according to the Web site.

The tower was proposed by Blaine Hopkins of ATC Realty in Portland, which has a business relationship with Global Towers Partnership of Boca Raton, Fla.

If approved, the project is expected to take six weeks and be completed in November or December.
