AUBURN – The final in a series of summer guided bird walks conducted by the Stanton Bird Club will be held along the Whitman Spring Road on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
The bird walk series has been taking place every other Wednesday at a variety of diverse local habitats and is free and open to the public. Walks are led by Stan and Joan DeOrsey, who identify and comment on birds seen or heard.
Participants on this walk last year saw common loons, cormorants, great blue herons and a variety of resident birds.
Those interested should meet at the Auburn parking lot in front of JC Penney at 8 a.m. The group will be at the walk site (Auburn Land Lab) at approximately 8:20. The walk will end by 11, but participants may leave early. If it is raining at 7 a.m. and predicted to continue through 10, the walk will be canceled.
Walks are approximately two miles on an even and relatively dry surface. For more information, contact trip leaders Stan or Joan DeOrsey at 933-2266 or e-mail [email protected] with questions.
A fall walk series is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, Sept. 10, along the Papermill and Ricker Farm trails in Lisbon.
