ROCKLAND (AP) – A 24-year-old Rockland man has been arrested on a manslaughter charge in the death of his 9-week-old daughter.

The Maine Department of Public Safety says Robert Harford was taken into custody Wednesday night after being interviewed by detectives about the death of Ava Harford.

Authorities say the infant was unresponsive when taken by ambulance from her home Sunday evening. She died Tuesday night at Maine Medical Center in Portland. An autopsy Wednesday found that Ava died of multiple blunt force head injuries.

Harford will make his initial appearance Friday in Knox County Superior Court.
