Lewiston Adult Education students brush up their algebra skills in preparation for college coursework.

High school diploma, prep courses offered

LEWISTON – For area residents looking to complete a high school diploma or earn prerequisites for college or nursing school, Lewiston Adult Education will offer courses in reading, writing, history, math and science this fall.

Classes to help improve reading and writing skills will include “Critical Reading Strategies for College and Work,” “Writing for College or Work” and “Writing Workshop.”

Math courses available for high school diploma credit and/or for refreshing skills for college will include “Algebra I,” “General Math” and “Preparation for College Math.”

Science courses, including “Biology” and “Chemistry,” will be offered for high school diploma credit and may also fulfill college or nursing school prerequisites.

“Twentieth Century American History (1900-1950)” will also be available to complete high school diploma credit.

The College Transition Program will again be offered through Lewiston Adult Education at no cost. The program is designed to refresh the skills needed for college coursework in a college-simulated environment. The program helps area residents prepare for, be accepted by and do well in college.
