STRATFORD, Conn. (AP) – Stratford police say they discovered a woman’s body in a car that was found partially submerged in the Housatonic River.
The woman’s identity was not confirmed early Saturday afternoon, a few hours after a tow truck pulled the car from the water near the Birdseye boat ramp.
A Stratford police captain said there were no obvious signs of foul play, but that the state medical examiner’s office will conduct an autopsy Sunday.
She was described as a woman in her 50s.
Police believe they know who she is, but her identity will not be released until the autopsy confirms it and until her family is notified.
