DIXFIELD – Selectmen have decided to schedule a second interview with one of the town manager finalists. A date will be set for the interview on Tuesday, Sept. 2.

“We had three really good candidates,” said Bettina Martin, chairwoman of the board. “We’re feeling really hopeful. I don’t believe we’ll have to go out to advertise again.”

The board received 15 responses, including several from outside the state. None of them have had prior town manager experience, but several have had administrative experience.

Martin said the second interview will include discussions of job expectations from both the applicant and the selectmen. If all works out, she said, the new town manager will be named at the board’s meeting Sept. 8.

Former Town Manager Tom Richmond left for a similar position in Carmel on Aug. 28. Richmond was paid $50,000 annually.

Martin and town office personnel are taking care of day-to-day matters in the interim.
