WOODSTOCK – Selectmen on Tuesday scheduled a special town meeting for next month to vote on accepting Rustic Outlook Road off Route 26 in South Woodstock as a town road.
Town Manager Vern Maxfield said the road leads to a new development by Lloyd Poland of Oxford.
“The road is paved and meets all town specifications and is a mile in length,” he said. “Because it meets our specs we will give the people a chance to make the final decision on accepting it or not as a town road. If accepted the town will take over both summer and winter maintenance.”
The meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14 in the meeting room at the town office in Bryant Pond.
In other business, selectmen voted to contract Western Maine Tree and Land of East Bethel for winter maintenance on the Concord Pond and Farnum roads. The company’s bid of $14,000 was the lowest of three. The others were $14,400 by Earl Tyler Construction and $19,500 by Gerald McKenna.
Selectmen released the third quarter payment to the Tri-Town Ambulance and Rescue Service for a sum of $10,000.
