AUBURN – Two priests, well-known in the area, will be honored this month at receptions in Auburn and Mechanic Falls.

The Rev. Jim Morrison is retiring after more than 30 years in the priesthood, having served in Scarborough, Old Town, Gray, Lewiston-Auburn and the chancery in Portland.

He will continue to reside in the rectory at Sacred Heart Church in Auburn, serving as needed in Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, which consists of Sacred Heart, St. Louis and St. Philip churches.

The Rev. Michael Seavey has begun his assignment as parochial vicar for the Auburn parish, moving across the river from the Lewiston cluster. He also serves the churches of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish, which include St. Catherine’s in Norway, St. Mary’s in Oxford and Our Lady of Ransom in Mechanic Falls.

The receptions, honoring both priests, are planned for Sunday, Sept. 14, after the 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Ransom in Mechanic Falls and Sunday, Sept. 21, after the 11 a.m. Mass at Sacred Heart in Auburn. Light refreshments will be served.
