Ashley Appleton, daughter of Kim and Glenn Appleton of Hampton, N.H., and granddaughter of Jacqueline and Philippe Turgeon of Lewiston, graduated magna cum laude from Johnson and Wales University in Providence, R.I.

She received her bachelor of science in culinary arts. She is also a life time member of the Golden Quill Honor Society. She is employed as chef on a live-aboard dive boat out of Kono, Hawaii.

Cory James Dennis, son of Brian Dennis and Linda Mayle, both of Lewiston, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Southern Maine. Dennis is a 2007 graduate of Winthrop High School.

Carmen Fisher, daughter of Alden and Lisa Fisher of Sabattus, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2007-08 school year at the University of Maine, Augusta, in Bangor. She is majoring in veterinary technology. She finished the year with a 3.8 grade point average.

Eric J. Daniels, son of John and Lisa Daniels of Sabattus, has been named to the dean’s list for four consecutive semesters at the University of New England in Biddeford. A 2006 graduate of Oak Hill High School in Wales, Daniels is majoring in athletic training and is the grandson of Carmen Rioux and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Daniels of Lewiston.

Kyle Heath Bryant of Auburn has been awarded a bachelor of fine arts in printmaking from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston.

Kristin Leifester of Lewiston earned her associate degree in culinary arts from the Culinary Institute of America, Hyde Park, N.Y., on May 22. She is a 2006 graduate of Lewiston High School.

Matthew Bennett of Auburn, son of Jeffrey and Larraine Bennett, has graduated from Hartwick College, Oneonta, N.Y., with a bachelor of arts degree in history and a bachelor of science in accounting.

Bennett graduated cum laude, with departmental distinction in history. He participated in men’s varsity football, men’s varsity baseball, honors program and Phi Alpha Theta.

Matthew D. Lavoie graduated cum laude from Buffalo State College, Buffalo, N.Y., on May 10, with a grade point average of 3.61.

Lavoie received a bachelor of science degree in forensic chemistry with a minor in criminal justice. While at Buffalo State, he was inducted into Phi Lambda Upsilon National Honorary Chemical Society and served as president of Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity.

Lavoie is a 2004 graduate of Lewiston High School and is the son on Ray and Pat Lavoie of Poland.

Millicent Moon of Gray was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Moon is a graduate of North Yarmouth Academy and is enrolled in the university’s College of Arts and Sciences.

Paul C. Farnum of Farmington was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Alfred University, Alfred, N.Y. He is a senior in the College of Business. Students must earn at least a 3.3 grade point average to qualify for dean’s list.

Farnum is an undecided major. A graduate of Mt. Blue High School, Farnum is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin P. Farnum of Farmington.

Rachel Nadeau, daughter of Dr. Gerald and Celine Nadeau of Auburn, has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of New England. Dean’s list students have attained a grade point average of 3.3 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.

A 2005 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School, Nadeau is a major in medical biology. She is also involved in women’s gymnastics and played on the women’s soccer team.

Colby-Sawyer College in New London, N.H., has named the following local students to the dean’s list for academic achievement during the spring semester:

John David Bossé of Lewiston, member of the class of 2008, exercise and sport sciences major.

Emily Cecile Dionne of Mechanic Falls, member of the class of 2011, undeclared major.

To qualify for the dean’s list, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.0 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours in graded courses.
